Subject: STUDY
SKILLS |

For many years we have realised
that some students at Maktab Duli fail their A Level exams, not because they
are unintelligent, lazy or lacking in will - power, but because they do not
know HOW to work properly. They rely on lower - school methods like
memorising and copying etc. This maybe alright for BJCE and O Level, but will
not work for A Level which demands enquiry, discussion, argument and wide
reading. Therefore, the main aim of the
Study Skills course is to increase the efficiency of our students in their
academic work by giving them practice in certain basic techniques. Many
students complain that they do not have time to complete their work. One of
the things that they learn in Study Skills is how to manage their time so
that they can complete all the work they have to do. They also learn how to
use resources like the library, how to take notes, to read efficiently, to
write essays, and how to study for examinations. We hope they will then apply
the skills they have learned to their A level studies, and end up as
successful students who pass their final exams. |
