A
brief outline of the syllabus: Introduction
to the basic concepts of line, shape, pattern, form etc. The role and
characteristics of differing media :- pastel, acrylic, charcoal etc.
Theoretical outline of ideas of composition and design etc. Development of a
personal style through short and long projects. |
The particular qualities which
are needed for this subject:
An
interest in the visual arts and evidence of that interest, a willingness to
be open-minded, to alter ones views about the nature and purpose of the art
making process and a capacity for hard work. |
Examination: Paper 1 Drawing and / or
painting from still life. 3 hours Paper 2 Drawing and / or
painting from observation. 3 hours Paper 3 Drawing and / or
painting from a living person 3 hours Paper 4 Composition in colour. 3
hours Paper 5 Craft A - Design on
paper. 3 hours Paper 6 Craft B - Design in
2D or 3D. 3 hours (
available to school candidates only ) Candidates
taking the paper at A level will be required to offer 3 papers- choosing at
least one from papers 1-3 and at least one from papers 4-6, and one other.
Each paper will be allotted one third of the marks of the total marks of the
subject. |

subject.: (NB
These may not be the minimum entry qualifications set by the Ministry) Credit in O
level Art (though evidence by way of a portfolio or other work may be
acceptable in certain cases). |

Careers
in Art are almost limitless and range from industrial and product designers,
illustrators, visual communicators (electronic, graphic etc.), photographers
to theater, teaching and fine art. |
